“Maybe this is going nowhere” is an exhibition of nine artists that explores preparation, materiality and visual processes. Covering a broad spectrum of mediums and techniques varying from ceramics, textiles, photography, video and sculpture to drawing, painting and installation, this exhibition investigates and self-criticises process-based practice and acts of waiting, expectation and planning. The potential of an action or idea can be the impetus or a hindrance to one’s efforts to move towards the idea of completion or a finished product. Within this framework lies this collection of different artists making very different works. We are welcoming accidents, varying outcomes and distractions and dismantling the idea of a disaster or disappointment. In turn, our movements are considered and reactionary, constantly moving forward to realise fulfilment – however fulfilment occurs.
